Nour D. Homsi
My name is Nour D. Homsi, born in Damascus 1986. I lived in it and studied in its schools and university. I was inspired by the world of graphics and web. About 14 years ago, I started working as a Designer by designing web sites, and then moved my attention to animation using Adobe Flash, and the field of graphic design using Adobe‘s various programs, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. I do not recognize the specialization in design. I know very well that art can not be limited in one area. I always look to study new programs and modern techniques in the design world, which leads me to recognize all kinds of companies.
I decided to stop studying civil engineering in Damascus University, and all my desires went to learn graphics, where I started with Adobe Photoshop in its beautiful version 5.5, when it was not easy to get information like nowadays, so my study was from a book that changed my life.
After a break from the university for three years, and after my career was formed as a graphic designer, it is the right time to return to academic study, but this time to study the specialty I love, and I registered at the Syrian Virtual University with the competence of Information Systems Engineering. The university immediately recognized the company I will be working in for four consecutive years. It is the same company that designs the e-content of the virtual university. The company carried the name Knowlgica, where I developed visual identities for the subjects of the university students
After a year of studying the software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Flash, Mircosoft Frontpage, I got my first job in this field in a company that started small and progressed so it became famous, this company formed the line that followed my life, At least 60 Internet sites for individuals and companies of various levels, as well as many visual identities, in addition to the most important work, which is animated commercial ads, both in exhibitions or television.
It was here that I needed to change, so I moved to a wider scope in this field, and began to submit my resume to prestigious companies until I found the right work that any graphic designer dreamed of. It was in a private Internet service provider in Syria, known as SAWA: SAWA ISP. In this company, I developed my skills. It was necessary to work differently. The designs will be presented on a very large scale and are available for daily use by all segments of society. The largest project was the visual identity of the supplier, from the logo, through commercials and routes and even purchase cards in various forms and types, even television ads and exhibitions of the annual exhibitions.
Six years of work in Damascus was enough to create good experience that made me qualified to move to a better level. I was able to meet the global challenges in a culture of design different from local culture when I moved to Abu Dhabi to look for new challenges and new opportunities. In Ealaniah Magazine LLC I started working, which has publisched more than 250,000 copies in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. I started as a Graphic designer and took up positions until I was able to take charge of managing the Art Department of the magazine and coordination sections With other divisions within the company, as well as continuous coordination within a complex and interrelated process.
In Ealaniah magazine I have got a lot of experience and the ability to assume additional responsibilities rather than design. The task of managing the Art departments required a high ability to organize the team and distribute the tasks required within a specific time to deliver two magazines every week in two different cities. Each of them contains more than 300 ads per week. In addition to the printed magazine, there was a need to take over the task of managing the website, which is more than one million visitors a week.
